IPTV adoption in Asia-Pacific region to surpass Europe, report says

A new report forecasts that the Asia-Pacific region will surpass Europe in dominating the IPTV market as the number of broadband subscribers in the region is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 91 percent during 2006-2011.

The report, “Global IPTV: Market Analysis and Forecast to 2011,” finds that while six Asian countries — South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Macao — are currently on the list of countries with the greatest broadband penetration, India and China will emerge on the list as the number of broadband subscribers — even those in rural areas — begins to grow.
