NHL, NeuLion ink deal to launch online fan experience
The National Hockey League (NHL) and NeuLion last week announced a partnership to bring a unique online experience to fans worldwide using NeuLion technology at the start of the 2007-’08 season.
A new NHL Integrated Video Portal will be available via NHL.com and all of the 30 club sites to deliver high-quality video and other content. Fans will be able to navigate between live game content, video features, behind-the-scenes footage and game highlights that are viewable in multiple video windows or full screen.

China Telecom inks deal with UTStarcom for RollingStream deployment
UTStarcom has won a bid to deploy its RollingStream end-to-end IPTV solution with China Telecom (CTC) for a new commercial IPTV network by China Telecom in the nation’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The initial deployment has the capacity to support 10,000 subscribers and will offer 52 live broadcast television channels, 48-hour time-shifting capabilities, 3000 hours of video-on-demand (VOD) content and valued-added services.

Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), Australia's multicultural and multilingual public broadcaster, has selected TANDBERG Television's comprehensive solution for Internet TV asset ingest, transcoding, management and distribution.

Optibase amends tender offer for Scopus Video Network shares
Optibase said July 19 that it had amended an earlier tender offer to buy an additional 5 percent interest in Scopus Video Networks, upping the total number of shares covered by the offer to 690,000.
Optibase’s original tender offer made earlier in the month was to purchase 678,000 shares. The company already owns 3,035,223 ordinary shares of Scopus, representing approximately 22.5 percent of Scopus’ outstanding shares, and, following the consummation of the tender offer, would own about 27.6 percent of Scopus' outstanding shares.

Singapore Telecommunications launches mio TV IPTV service
Singapore Telecommunications July 20 announced the launch of “mio TV,” the company’s new IPTV service.
The service will offer an extensive on-demand service, HD channels from VOOM HD Networks, MediaCorp’s HD5 and a made-in-Singapore HD channel, Sling HD.
Singapore Telecommunications' IPTV offering is powered by the first commercial deployment of Microsoft Mediaroom, an end-to-end IPTV and multimedia platform.
