Telestream, a provider of multiformat workflow automation solutions, has announced the version 5.0 software release for its FlipFactory product line. FlipFactory automatically converts and transfers digital media files between formats and systems in today’s IT-centric video environments. Two new products, FlipFactory Mobile and FactoryArray, and new product features address the needs of a rapidly changing digital media marketplace.

FlipFactory Mobile automates high-volume media encoding for mobile distribution outlets. Support for commonly used mobile and Web video and audio formats includes H.264, iPod, QuickTime 7, Windows Media VC-1, 3GPP, Real, MPEG-4, MP3, AAC and more. With the availability of FlipFactory Mobile, Telestream continues to provide file format support for multiplatform media distribution, from HD to mobile and everything in between.

FactoryArray extends FlipFactory product from a single server to an array of servers working together to process jobs. Key components include load-balancing and job distribution, failover protection, database mirroring and automatic recovery mechanisms. Distributed control ensures there is no single point of failure in FactoryArray that will ever bring a system down.

Support is now available for Autodesk’s media and entertainment division systems products, including Autodesk Stone file system and Discreet Smoke editing/finishing system, as well as Discreet Inferno, Discreet Flame and Discreet Flint visual effects and compositing systems.

Editing system file format support expands in version 5.0 to include Apple QuickTime and Final Cut Pro IMX, DV50, DVCPRO HD, AAC audio and HDV, and Avid MXF decode. Camera support now includes decoding of Grass Valley Infinity DV25 and JPEG2000, Sony XDCAM HD MXF files, and Panasonic DVCPRO HD from P2 cameras. Media server support expands to include Omneon MXF and Leitch MXF, as well as full support for Grass Valley K2 and SeaChange BML servers. Emerging formats now supported include VC-1 and Dolby 5.1.
