At more than 8ft wide, AMV's new console has 50 input faders, a 10-fader master section and remote 10-fader input bay.

Celebrity, All Mobile Video's 53ft triple expando mobile unit, carried the distinction of being among the first fully digital (SDI video, AES audio) production trucks in the United States when it was built in 1998. Seven years later, Manhattan-based AMV has upgraded the vehicle's video facilities to HD and added a Studer Vista 8 digital audio console.

At more than 8ft wide, AMV's new console has 50 input faders, a 10-fader master section and remote 10-fader input bay, in addition to an extensive outboard Studer DSP rack. Boulevard Body Works of Warren, NJ, customized the frame to fit within the tight confines of the truck.

According to AMV Director of Mobile Operations Lee Blanco, the Vista 8's redundancy was a primary reason All Mobile Video selected the console. Celebrity’s Vista 8 has a fully redundant control system with all current console settings mirrored from the primary system. In the event of a control system problem, operators can switch to the backup system and transparently restore to the most recent desk settings.

During the retrofit, Celebrity also was equipped with new Sony HDC950 and HDC900 cameras allowing the unit to capture images natively at 1080/60i, 1080/24p, 1080/25p and 1080/30p resolutions; new HD HDW-F500 VTRs; and an SD serial digital to DigitalBetacam converter. New monitors, routers and converters were also integrated to bring the truck up to full HD specifications.
