Residents of a Brooklyn apartment building that was struck by WNBC’s news helicopter last May have filed suit against the station and the helicopter’s manufacturer and distributor for an undisclosed amount, The New York Daily News reported.
The lawsuit claims the helicopter was operated in a "careless and unsafe manner."
During an interview at last week’s NAB2005 convention in Las Vegas, Alan Purwin, CEO of Helinet Aviation Services, the company that operated the helicopter, said the National Transportation and Safety Administration has not yet concluded its investigation of the crash.
The reporter and two pilots onboard the aircraft survived. No one on the ground was injured.
