Turner Sports rolls out mobile production rig
Turner Sports' new mobile stage was used at Daytona International Speedway as the main set for NASCAR.com's exclusive online series, "NASCAR 24/7 Live." The Web-only program will broadcast live from various tracks prior to 20 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races throughout the season.
The truck also will serve as the home for TNT's pre-race show during the network's six consecutive NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races, beginning June 10 with the race telecast from Pocono Raceway and concluding at Chicagoland Speedway July 15.
The truck features a retractable platform stage that can rotate 360 degrees and be raised 7ft above the base of the truck. Once the stage is fully extended, the height of the rig reaches 26ft.
CBS Sports drafts Dalet for sports production
The CBS Sports division is using a DaletPlus NewsWire system from Dalet Digital Media Systems to manage scripts and rundowns for their most popular sports programs. The system was used for the Super Bowl and will again be put into operation for live coverage of the upcoming March Madness college basketball tournament.
The system's advanced rundown management includes comprehensive control over teleprompters and automatic live updates, with the ability to modify copy and on-air scripts on the fly.
When on the road covering events such as college basketball, the Dalet application enables network operators to work remotely on a wide area network (WAN), as well as quickly synchronize all their remote systems and the main server at CBS headquarters in New York. Keeping all the systems in sync offers the crew both backup security and streamlined production processes in the facility and onsite.

HDNet to televise entire NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series
HDNet, the all-HD network, will present re-broadcasts of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races in the 1080i HD format. The first one was the Daytona 500, which was held live on Sunday, Feb. 18, and appeared on HDNet on Thursday, Feb. 22.
The network will televise re-airs of the entire NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races each week for the entire season. It has a renewed agreement to air races from the NASCAR Grand National Division throughout 2007.
