Robo-Vision deploys seven Ikegami POV HD cameras at Super Bowl

Robo-Vision has added 20 Ikegami HDL-50s to its equipment list for coverage of NASCAR, Indy Car, Formula One, truck racing and other events.
Robotic camera specialists Robo-Vision deployed seven Ikegami HDL-50 one-piece full-digital native multiformat HD POV (point-of-view) cameras at the University of Phoenix Stadium for coverage of Super Bowl XLII in February.
The one-piece, compact Ikegami HDL-50 camera was an integral part of an innovative joystick-controlled robotic pan/tilt system developed by Robo-Vision in conjunction with Movie Engineering. That system delivered POV coverage from both goalposts. The remaining cameras provided shots from the locker room hallways and other locations where placing a full-size HD camera would have been difficult or impossible.
The system delivered instant response that mimicked the performance of a camera under the control of a cameraman, said Robo-Vision President Jim Warden.
