ATG Broadcast helps TV4 Sweden streamline production

TV4, Sweden's largest independent TV channel, has expanded the technical infrastructure at its headquarters in Stockholm with the help of systems integrator ATG Broadcast.

The new facilities, including the redesigned layout of existing studios and technical resources, facilitate the origination, post production and playout of two new channels: TV4 Guld and TV4 Komedi. The network now transmits a total of seven channels. Looking to make more efficient use of the production space, TV4’s existing Studio 3 facilities have been split in two to provide additional control room space for part of the existing Studio 1.

Bolstering the network’s disk-based playout functionality, ATG engineers have increased server capacity by adding four Omneon DV/MPEG Plus MediaPorts with Long-GOP support. Existing source and emergency-cut routers have been expanded with the addition of 32 x 32 crosspoints. Two additional transmission chains, an additional automation channel and extra monitoring facilities have also been installed.

The contract is the fourth placed with ATG Broadcast by TV4 Sweden in recent years.
