CBS NEWSPATH deploys VC-1 based system for news acquisition, distribution

CBS NEWSPATH’s news contribution and distribution system from Generation Technologies uses Windows Media Video 9 (VC-1) to deliver content to its affiliates.
The organization will rely on Microsoft’s implementation of VC-1, the proposed Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers standard.
The adoption of Windows Media Video 9 ( VC-1 ) with this next-generation NEWSPATH Now II system will allow CBS to better communicate with its stations and improve the way it delivers news to them.
VC-1 recently reached Final Committee Draft ( FCD ) status with the SMPTE's C24 Technology Committee. Content created in VC-1 will be compatible with the Windows Media Video 9-based PCs and Windows CE-based devices.
