Journalists responsible for IBC TV News in Amsterdam next month will produce news content with the EVS News Production Suite, including the CleanEdit nonlinear editor.

The IBC has selected the EVS News Production Suite, including its CleanEdit 3.00 nonlinear editor, for the tapeless production of the IBC TV News. The integrated system will be operated on-site in the production village in Hall 9 of the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam for the production of the IBC HD news programs during the convention, Sept. 11-15.

EVS instant tapeless technology will control the entire news production workflow of the daily news programs, from breakfast and midday news flashes, broadcast on the IBC TV News channel, to Web-streaming, mobile content and video podcasts. The content shot on JVC tapeless camcorders will be recorded onto EVS servers.

The process of ingest and clip creation will be managed by the EVS scheduling module of IPDirector. Live streams, logged files and clips will be made instantly available via the XNet[2] high-bandwidth media sharing network on any CleanEdit station used to search content and start building the edits while recording.

Along with the benefits, come a number of challenges. One of the biggest challenges is a mechanism to recover lost data in real-time. This paper will attempt to shed some light on the inner workings of the real-time data recovery mechanism: Pro-MPEG Code of Practice #3 Forward Error Correction (CoP#3 FEC). Read Now
