GlobeCast Delivers Tour de France 2005

GlobeCast deployed nine mobile satellite and microwave stations to bring 22 simultaneous video signals to a reception station at the finish line of the Tour de France.

GlobeCast transmitted live footage of the Tour de France 2005 July 2-24 for France Televisions and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

At each stage of the race, GlobeCast deployed nine mobile satellite and microwave stations to bring 22 simultaneous video signals to a reception station at the finish line, providing optimal coverage of the race.

Footage at each stage was shot by camera operators from the Société Française de Production (SFP) and routed through the mobile stations set up by GlobeCast along the length of the course. These stations sent images via satellite and microwave to a GlobeCast reception station at the finish line. GlobeCast fed the coverage via cable to the France Televisions and EBU production vehicles for treatment before performing the final satellite uplink from two GlobeCast SNG trucks on site.
