NTT Electronics launches MPEG-2 HD encoder/decoder

NTT Electronics has released its new H5100 series MPEG-2 HDTV encoder/decoder with enhanced audio capability.

Intended for use in contribution and content distribution, the unit comes with a maximum of 16 PCM audio input channels. It also offers an optional built-in Dolby E and Dolby Digital encoder.

The new H5100 series responds to growing demands for multichannel audio transmission to achieve dynamic, true-to-life program creation. It allows the transmission of a maximum of 16 channels of audio alongside video.

The new H5100 series is the successor to the company's H3100 series. It comes with a BISS-1/E scrambling function to protect data on satellite links from unauthorized viewing and is Ethernet-interface-ready for IP transmission.
