Polecam to introduce solid-state HD/SD video recorder at IBC2009

Polecam will unveil nanoFlash, a portable video recorder capable of operating in HD or SD and storing directly to dual CompactFlash solid-state cards, at IBC2009.

The nanoFlash is designed to be attached to a Polecam rig or mounted directly to a camera. It can also be connected to any HD-SDI source via BNC coax.

Measuring only 107mm x 94mm x 36mm (4.21in x 3.7in x 1.41in) and weighing 14oz, the nanoFlash creates digital files for fast transfer to industry-standard editing software, such as Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid and Adobe Premiere. The nanoFlash consumes a tenth the power of a typical hard disk drive.

The nanoFlash file format conforms to the FAT32 standard used in PCs and Apple Macintosh platforms. Automatic file-coupling ensures compatibility with the 4GB FAT32 file-size limitation. Nine bit rates are supported, ranging from 160Mb/s I-frame-only 4:2:2 1920 x 1080/1280 x 720p master quality to 18Mb/s long GOP 1440 x 1080/1280 x 720p HD as well as 50Mb/s 720 x 576i and 720 x 480i SD.
