Russian broadcast station takes news operations tapeless

Channel One Russia, that nation’s largest broadcast station, is taking delivery of more than 50 AJ-SPX800 P2 camcorders and a dozen AJ-HPM100 P2 HD mobile recorders. These Panasonic P2 products will give Channel One Russia tapeless acquisition capability for its news production operations.

The P2 products will be deployed as part of the channel’s migration to tapeless video production. The transition of the news production department to a tapeless infrastructure will take place this summer. Moscow-based systems integrator Okno TV is the general contractor for the project.

The AJ-SPX800 DVCPRO P2 offers solid-state memory recording and IT domain integration. The P2 camcorder combines a 2/3in 3-CCD camera with 24fps and 30fps progressive and 60 fields interlace recording in 25Mb/s DVCPRO and 50Mb/s DVCPRO50 format on a P2 card.
