Telecast provides WGN-TV with fiber solution

WGN-TV in Chicago will use the Telecast Fiber Systems CopperHead DV400 fiber optic link system.

WGN-TV, Tribune Broadcasting's station in Chicago, has taken delivery of Telecast Fiber Systems’ CopperHead DV400 system.

The station’s ENG crews will use the DV400 to create SDI signals directly from their Betacam SX cameras and link the cameras to digital microwave and satellite trucks via tactical fiber optic cable.

Designed specifically for Sony's IMX, SX, and DigiBeta cameras, the DV400 fiber optic link incorporates serialization capabilities from Miranda Technologies into a compact camera-mounted adaptor that connects directly between the camera and its battery. Tapping directly into the camera's 40-pin connector, the system will provide WGN with SDI output at the camera, as well as at the system's base station in any of its ENG or SNG trucks.
