WTTW completes first phase of archive management system

Network Chicago, a PBS affiliate and home of WTTW, will use Software Generation's (SGL) FlashNet as a major part of its HD channel archive.

WTTW has integrated the SGL archive management system with Avid Technology's Media Stream 8000si server and a Storage Tech SL500 Library System, in conjunction with its existing Sundance Digital automation system. The system went on air for the first time in January 2007.

The project has two additional phases, according to Ron Yergovich, station VP of engineering. The next phase will see the expansion of the system to include the station's SD operation. In the final phase, the system will encompass production.

WTTW delivers three TV broadcast services: WTTW11, WTTWD and WTTW Create. WTTW11 is the network's traditional analog service, broadcasting on Channel 11 for more than 50 years.
