WVIA upgrades master control suite to HD

WVIA is using the Compix LCG9000R HD for live, on-air graphics from its new HD master control room.
WVIA in Pittston, PA, has upgraded its master control to HD with a new Sony MVS switcher and live video graphics being handled by the Compix Media LCG9000R HD.
All of the station’s graphics are created in Adobe Photoshop and are transferred over the station’s network to the Compix LCG9000R HD. Staff then places transparent layers on an alpha channel that’s imported as a TGA file into the Compix LCG9000R HD.
Text layers and fonts are added and the graphics are saved in the program, so staff can open Compix and update fonts. Operators can wipe a lower-third in and out with Compix without tying up the switcher, because the Compix software includes a special effects generator.
The station began using the Compix GenCG software in 2003 as a dual-channel SD version (LCG3000D) and recently added the HD version for master control.
WVIA serves the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market and has 15 full-time engineers and production staff.
