The flagship station of the Sinclair Broadcast Group has launched the first HD newscast in its market (DMA#31).
WBFF-TV, the Fox affiliate in Baltimore, MD, has launched the first HD newscast in its market, with a new master control area, new control room and a new widescreen set. The station went live on June 2 (the same day that the Weather Channel debuted in HD, coincidentally) and is now producing about five-and-a-half hours of local news in HD every weekday.
The station also operates Baltimore's CW affiliate, WNUV-TV, through a local marketing agreement. The two stations share studios and transmission facilities in the Woodberry section of Baltimore.
Devlin Design Group designed and built the new HD set, complete with 35 LCD monitors, a revolving anchors desk, a 143in rear projection screen and an HD SkyWatch Weather Center.
There’s also a new Sundance Digital automation system, master control switcher and Snell & Wilcox Kahuna HD production switcher.
