Workflow and true HD from the field are among the next big challenges stations will face with ENG operations going forward, said Steve Shpock, president and managing director of Vitec Group’s RF Systems.
Steve Shpock, the new Vitec Group president and managing director of RF Systems, is a 24-year veteran of the broadcast industry.
Shpock, who assumed the top spot in August, is responsible for the success of Microwave Services (MSC), Nucomm and RF Central. Before taking on this responsibility, Shpock was CEO of Thales Component.
Shpock assumes the post as electronic newsgathering technology is undergoing major, sustained transformation. The winding down of the 2GHz Broadcast Auxiliary Service relocation project for more than 950 BAS licensees and the emergence of new IP technologies in newsgathering are just two of those changes. “HD Technology Update” spoke with Steve Shpock last week to get his perspective on where ENG is headed and how MSC, Nucomm and RF Central will approach the market.
