Belden Cable buys Telecast Fiber Systems

Dec 22, 2009 3:22 PM, By Michael Grotticelli

Veteran broadcast cable and connector supplier Belden has acquired Telecast Fiber Systems, makers of fiber-optic technology for live sports and entertainment production. No financial details were available.

Belden is a premiere provider of cable and wireless signal transmission and connectivity solutions for a wide range of markets and industries, while Telecast manufactures fiber-optic systems for TV broadcast production and other demanding video applications. According to those closely involved with the negotiations, bringing the two companies together will help customers capitalize on their continuing need for mixed copper and fiber solutions and growing bandwidth demands in live entertainment applications.

Going forward, Belden and Telecast will now provide a complete copper-to-fiber architecture to deliver maximum performance in broadcast applications through lighter cable runs, expanded camera performance and faster deployment.
