Deadline approaches for DTV transition status report

Oct 14, 2008 9:10 AM

The FCC Media Bureau last week issued a reminder to broadcasters that they must update their DTV Transition Status Report by Oct. 20 if they have not completed their DTV transition and begun operating their facility as authorized.

Stations that have not informed the commission on the DTV Transition Status Report of being fully operational with their post-transition DTV facilities should report the current status of their efforts as well as any changes to the information contained in their previous report.

The FCC also has encouraged stations to use this opportunity to indicate if they anticipate that their digital coverage area will no longer cover all of the viewers served by their analog signal. If such a result is anticipated, stations may estimate how many or what percentage of analog viewers will not be within the station's authorized digital contour and whether any of these viewers will have digital service from another affiliate of the same network.
