At IBC, EVS showed a new Web browsing and clip-making solution, the XT2web.

The XT2web is a combined Web and broadcast solution that offers fast and easy access to clips and associated metadata combined with a series of intuitive browsing and clip-making features. It increases the production scope of EVS live and near-live production systems, such as the XT[2] server and related software applications.

With this new concept, the company now offers broadcasters the ability to access the world of live sport production from almost anywhere. Today, most live production trucks have EVS XT[2] servers, recording hours and hours of sport content. The company’s idea in developing the XT2web was to make those hours of content, including unseen camera angles, clips and feeds, available through a Web production page.

The XT2web improves any live, news, or archiving workflow by providing new browsing and production capabilities and enhancing content management with complementary access tools, which allow access to both live and archived media. XT2web allows users to download clips in low-resolution formats for further editing of new media (like 3GP, QuickTime, Windows Media, etc.) for sending the media to broadband and Web sites. Users can also utilize the XT2web to download packages in high resolution for direct editing on nonlinear editing tools like EVS’ CleanEdit, Avid Media Composer, or Avid Final Cut Pro.

Other capabilities include clip-review, advanced search based on metadata, playlist and package creation, and remote clip contribution.
