Affiliates of NBC Universal Television covered the historic U.S. elections and Philadelphia Phillies World Series Parade using Ross Video’s OverDrive automated production control system.

WMAQ-TV in Chicago covered the U.S. elections and the Barack Obama victory celebration at Chicago’s Grant Park using the OverDrive APC system.  Coverage included 14 remotes with multiple live shots and up-to-the minute results from across the country.

WCAU-TV, in Philadelphia, PA, used OverDrive for coverage of the biggest local sports fan party in 25 years. The World Series Parade drew close to 2 million people to the streets. Live coverage continued from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. OverDrive operators were rotated throughout the day with seamless coverage provided by 12 reporters in the field, two helicopters from above, and live broadcasting direct from Citizens Bank Park.

The NBC Universal Television group is managing all daily news production with OverDrive at six NBC and two Telemundo facilities in top U.S. markets.

Using the latest Java technologies and an IT class client/server architecture, OverDrive extends the reach of the operator to include control of video servers, audio mixers, robotic cameras, multiple graphic channels and more. In newsroom applications, the unique LiveLink MOS connection to the newsroom control system enables direct control of production rundowns and MOS enabled devices.
