NBCU puts World Series parade into Ross OverDrive

WCAU-TV, in Philadelphia, used Ross’s Synergy switcher and OverDrive control software to capture the Phillies parade, which drew close to 2 million people to the streets.
NBC Universal Television’s recent live coverage of the Philadelphia Phillies World Series Parade was delivered to viewers using Ross Video’s OverDrive automated production control system.
OverDrive enables touch-screen control over the devices used in a production environment and integrating with Ross’ Synergy SD, MD/X and Vision series of production switchers — leveraging their control interfaces over video servers, VTRs, DDRs, audio mixers, robotic cameras, routers and still stores.
OverDrive also offers a MOS newsroom interface featuring an ActiveX plug-in that integrates directly into a variety of newsroom systems such as the Associated Press’ ENPS, Avid iNEWS and Autocue QNews. This interface enables production elements, such as switcher effects, DVE effects, audio mixes and robotic camera moves to be placed directly into the rundown.
WCAU-TV, in Philadelphia, used OverDrive for live coverage of the parade, which drew close to 2 million people to the streets and continued from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. OverDrive operators were rotated throughout the day with coverage provided by 12 reporters in the field, two helicopters from above and live broadcasting direct from Citizens Bank Park.
The NBC Universal Television group is managing all daily news production with OverDrive at six NBC and two Telemundo facilities in top U.S. markets.
