New Century Productions installs Utah Scientific router onboard new HD truck

The UTAH-400 router offers an innovative matrix architecture that reduces system complexity, is compact and uses minimal power.
New Century Productions, a veteran mobile television production company, will deploy a UTAH-400 HD routing switcher in its new HD truck, NCP-XI, which is now being built in Pittsburgh and is scheduled to hit the road in mid-January.
The truck is a “set-shoot-strike” truck that will help produce six shows in four locations each week, said Mike Mundt, NCP director of operations. The 53ft rig (with an expandable side) will carry 10 cameras, and is smaller and lighter than the other HD truck in the NCP fleet. The truck is aimed at local and regional broadcasters who have wanted to break into HD, but have been frustrated by the high cost and lengthy set times that come along with the larger trucks.
The UTAH-400 HD router chosen by NCP is configured in a 224 x 552 matrix and incorporates an AES and AA audio router and associated control panels. The router offers an innovative matrix architecture that reduces system complexity, is compact and uses minimal power. The UTAH-400 HD router’s control panels require little programming and is designed to be easy to use.
