Independent station group New Vision Television has purchased four Quantel Newsbox HD server-based news production systems for its stations in order to streamline their production workflow and bring news stories to air faster.

The participating stations include: KOIN, the CBS affiliate in Portland, OR; WJCL, the ABC affiliate in Savannah, GA; KSNW, the NBC affiliate in Wichita, KS; and KSNT, the NBC affiliate in Topeka, KS.

New Vision Television owns or manages content for 17 television stations in markets such as Portland, OR, Honolulu, HI and Birmingham, AL. This includes five CBS, two ABC, four FOX, two NBC, two CW and two My Network stations.

The stations were looking for a cost-effective and scalable news editing system that could be leverage to facilitate automated, multi-tier automation and distribution as well as tightly integrated archival solutions for its content.

Depending on the market, the Newsbox HD systems will be accompanied by a number of connected desktop editing applications including sQ View, sQ Cut and sQ Edit as well as sQ Record and sQ Play ingest and playout applications. The stations also plan to actively review Marco as a potential means of extending the Quantel direct connect editing interface to a laptop for mobile editing by journalists or other event coverage projects in the field.
