QVC, the multimedia retailer, has made its QVCHD service now 100 percent native HD, one year after launching the HD simulcast of its domestic network.
Prior to going native HD, QVCHD was produced in SD and upconverted to HD, according to a company announcement. Al Ulozas, senior VP of affiliate sales and marketing, said the upconversion process was always seen as an interim step on the way to native HD production.
According to the multimedia shopping channel, QVC affiliates in the past year have said they wanted to offer QVCHD in natively produced HD.
