Sport TV, the Portuguese subscription-based sports broadcaster, has purchased a Quantel Enterprise sQ server-based production system to handle all of its HD production needs for sports programming.

The new system at Sport TV includes more than 400 hours of HD storage and supports a number of sQ View and sQ Cut journalist workstations as well as three eQ and sQ Edit Plus craft edit suites.

Sport TV has relied on a Quantel Enterprise sQ SD production system for a number of years to handle its rapidly growing production needs across a large range of sports that includes the channel’s exclusive coverage of Liga Sagres and Champions League soccer, Formula One motor racing, basketball, volleyball, rugby and tennis.

The purchase comes as Sports TV prepares to launch two additional HD channels and move all of its broadcasting to HD by 2012. With Quantel, all the interfaces and workflow are unchanged whether working in HD, SD or a mixture of both.
