TANDBERG’s EN8030 SD MPEG-4 AVC encoders will help Korea Telecom expand its linear broadcast TV services.

Korea Telecom (KT), a premiere wired/wireless communications service provider, has selected a TANDBERG Television IPTV headend to support the continued growth of its Mega TV IPTV service. Mega TV has more than 700,000 subscribers and provides interactive and pay-per-view services, including movies on-demand. The telco will use TANDBERG’s EN8090 HD MPEG-4 AVC and EN8030 SD MPEG-4 AVC encoders to expand its linear broadcast TV services.

Regulatory changes in Korea now allow IPTV providers like KT to broadcast services to complement their existing VOD. KT already uses a wide range of TANDBERG Television headend and contribution and distribution equipment for its Mega TV IPTV service.
