At IBC2008 in Amsterdam, Thomson unveiled the cine-style options for its Grass Valley Infinity Digital Media Camcorder (DMC) giving the camera the ability to shoot in production-style, HD progressive formats.

The options add the ability to use cine accessories and lenses with the DMC as well as support for 1080P23.97, P25 and P29.97 at a 1920 x 1080 HD resolution.

The cine-style option is just one of several boosts to functionality since the camera’s introduction.

Thomson also has added the ability to record HD in long GOP to the camera, giving users the option of selecting and capturing HD in bit rates at 18Mb/s, 25Mb/s, 35Mb/s and 50Mb/s. Combined with the Infinity camcorder’s existing capabilities, Infinity users can select the precise balance of capturing bandwidth, storage capacity and operational functionality for each individual production and scene.
