Aug 6, 2009 11:00 AM
Artel Video Systems has released the DL4042, DL4100 and DL4000P chassis as part of the DL4000 Video Transport Platform. The new chassis lower price points, making Artel products affordable to more carriers wishing to provide pro-video transport over dark fiber.
The DL4042 is a one rack unit holding up to four DL4000 modules and includes dual AC power supplies. The DL4100 is a small compact chassis for a single module with an external universal AC power supply. The DL4000P is a passive design for housing up to four optical modules.
With slots for up to four modules in 1.75in of height, a single rack unit, and unlimited non-spaced stacking, the DL4000 is a space-efficient platform.
In the ever advancing world of media content delivery, MPEG over IP (MPEG/IP) has been gaining popularity for a number of reasons. MPEG/IP delivery offers lower costs, higher bandwidth, greater efficiency, and new application possibilities over the traditional methods, such as: Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and RF networks. Along with the benefits, come a number of challenges. One of the biggest challenges is a mechanism to recover lost data in real-time. This paper will attempt to shed some light on the inner workings of the real-time data recovery mechanism: Pro-MPEG Code of Practice #3 Forward Error Correction (CoP#3 FEC). Read Now
