Convergent Design Flash XDR HD recorder boosts data rate to 160Mb/s

The new Convergent Design Flash XDR portable CompactFlash-based HD recorder, supports the MPEG2 422P@HL profile, specifically 4:2:2, full-raster (1920x1080/ 280x720) I-Frame only at 160Mb/s.

This enhanced capability comes in addition to the previously announced support for HDV, XDCAM HD (35Mb/s) and 50Mb/s 4:2:2 long-GOP MPEG-2 data-rates.

Flash XDR is an ultra-portable HD field recorder that uses CompactFlash media coupled with the reprogrammable Sony MPEG-2 codec. The unit’s all solid-state construction opens up applications where older tape- or disk-drive-based solutions were too large and too heavy.

With the addition of the 160Mb/s, 422P@HL I-Frame profile, videographers and cinematographers can enjoy portability and high video quality coupled with the ease of I-frame based editing.
