Dave Neff, president of Axcera, says there are steps broadcasters can take today to make a future rollout of mobile digital television service a success.

Last month at the BroadcastAsia convention in Singapore, Dave Neff, president of transmitter manufacturer Axcera, presented a paper on mobile digital television.

Entitled "Integrating Mobile Multimedia Services into a Broadcast System; Options, Choices, and What Your Need to Know," the paper detailed the primary concerns broadcasters from around the world — despite the specific standard being employed — must face when preparing for mobile digital television service.

In this edition of Sound Off, Neff discusses some of the points he raised in the paper, what to consider when deploying ATSC Mobile DTV in this country and how broadcasters can go about preparing today for a future rollout.

This paper will attempt to shed some light on the inner workings of the real-time data recovery mechanism: Pro-MPEG Code of Practice #3 Forward Error Correction (CoP#3 FEC). Read Now
