Avid Technology announced this week that DirecTV has installed about $1 million worth of Avid MediaStream systems purchased in March 2006.
The systems, which will enable DirecTV to update and expand its SD capabilities and build a foundation for future HD services, includes four MediaStream servers with a total of 64 decoder channels and more than 25TB of dedicated RAID storage. The installation was completed late last month.
