Sony's HDCAM cameras will be installed in a new teleproduction van for Switzerland's largest TV production company.

Switzerland’s largest TV production company, tv productioncenter zürich (tpc), and Sony Professional Solutions will jointly launch HDTV in Switzerland.

The initial public sign of the partnership will be an HD teleproduction vehicle for tpc to be used for the first time at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. The vehicle will be equipped with 12 to 24 Sony cameras, including HDCAMS, HD screen mixers and various Sony LMD LCD monitors. After the Olympics, tpc will work on developing HD programming offerings.

To date, HD programs are created every month in Switzerland. Most are commissioned by Japanese or U.S. TV stations and produced using foreign outside broadcast vans. The Swiss production company wants to be the first to supply domestic production services for HDTV.
