HDTV ranks near top of tech toy holiday wish list

New video game consoles and plasma and LCD HDTVs top holiday wish lists this year, according to a new Web poll conducted by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).

A total of 18.1 percent of respondents selected HD televisions as the most desired holiday item, falling just behind the Sony PlayStation 3 video game console at more than 21 percent for the top spot. The Microsoft Xbox 360 game console came in third at 10.2 percent.

There were 954 respondents to the CompTIA Web poll, which was conducted Oct. 19 to Nov. 14.
