LG Electronics, VUDU team to make over-the-top HD easy

Aug 3, 2009 12:50 PM

Over-the-top video — video delivered via the Internet — progressed on the HD stage last week with the July 29 announcement that consumer electronics manufacturer LG Electronics will make available two separate 1080p models with instant-access HD movie service from VUDU.

Consumers with the LG LH50 1080p LCD series and PS80 plasma 1080p series will be able to select from VUDU’s library of 2000 HD movie titles via its NetCast Entertainment Access service this month. Using the service, consumers can rent or buy movies and TV shows instantly in VUDU’s HDX format, which offers 1080p resolution and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound.

VUDU's streaming movie service delivers a near-instant viewing experience. Movies start immediately, including HDX movies, and viewers can fast forward, rewind and browse chapters without the delays associated with slow buffering.
