Samsung sponsors the NFL to showcase its HDTVs

In an effort to use sports to help propel HDTV demand, Samsung Electronics America signed a two-year deal with the NFL to market its LCD, DLP, SlimFit and plasma HDTV displays to millions of football fans looking to enhance their viewing enjoyment at home. Samsung will use its official sponsor status in TV commercials, in print, online and for in-store exposure, which will feature former NFL quarterbacks Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Steve Young and Boomer Esiason.

Samsung is not the first consumer electronics company to leverage high-profile sports sponsorship to drive demand for its HDTVs. This summer Sony sponsored Sony HDTV 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup race in Fontana, CA.
