Avid Technology's Softimage subsidiary has released SOFTIMAGE|XSI 6, the latest version of its flagship 3-D animation and character creation software.
Available now for download, XSI 6 software delivers a fast, integrated way to work with complex 3-D characters and motion capture data in a mixed-studio pipeline. The release is equally well suited for creating visual effects in film and broadcast programs or for designing PC and console games.
Among the new features are:
- Crosswalk — a dedicated toolset that offers extensive asset transfer to and from other 3-D software;
- MOTOR — a streamlined way to transfer and move animation and motion capture data between arbitrary XSI rigs and other 3-D software character rigs;
- Delta Referencing — a referencing solution that streamlines working with and changing 3-D models and scene setups;
- Elastic Reality Warper and Morpher — allows artists to distort and morph images and sequences.
