Sony unveils two new HDV professional camcorders

Sony Electronics has introduced two new HDV camcorders that feature interchangeable lens systems, native progressive recording, increased sensitivity for low-light conditions and hybrid solid-state recording.

The HVR-Z7U (handheld) and HVR-S270U (shoulder-mount) camcorders use Sony’s 1/3in three ClearVid CMOS Sensor system enhanced by Exmor technology. The Exmor technology features a unique column-parallel analog-to-digital conversion technique and dual noise canceling. The two new camcorders offer sensitivity of 1.5lux.

Users can attach different lenses, and both models have a universal standard 1/3in bayonet mount mechanism for easier lens changes. Each comes standard with a 12X Carl Zeiss lens for HD video, with a Vario-Sonnar T coating to reduce reflections.
