Surround-sound audio captured with Holophone mic

CBC's "Hockey Night In Canada" (HNIC) is one of the most widely watched sports programs in the country, and is now bringing NHL games to viewers in HD. To accompany a better picture, the crew is using a Holophone H2-PRO surround microphone.

Audio mixer Kathryn Von Bezold has used the Holophone surround microphone to cover several of the Toronto Maple Leaf home games from the Air Canada Centre. She said the H2-PRO microphone made viewers feel like they had the best seat in the house.

When capturing sound for the HNIC HD broadcasts, she said the crew had to be concerned with mixing in LT/RT (left total, right total) for those viewing the game in SD and for HD viewers without a surround setup.
