Technicolor Content Services has selected a da Vinci Systems Resolve RT digital mastering suite and Resolve Conform Station for use in its DI operations.
Technicolor chose the Resolve suite for 4K DI film finishing and to help optimize workflow efficiency, productivity and creative control.
A number of factors played a part in Technicolor's selection of the Resolve RT, including the system's ability to directly access the facility's SAN while bridging both CXFS- and ADIC-based SAN systems, thereby allowing the merger of workstation-created VFX files and scanned 4K images for subsequent conform and grading on Resolve.
For Technicolor, another Resolve advantage is that the user interface and tools are similar to those on the da Vinci 2K, which has been in use at Technicolor for several years, thereby minimizing the learning curve between the two systems.
