Telecorps Communications and Wexler Video have announced a new financing division to help local stations afford the transition to HD. The new service, called Telecorps Leasing powered by Wexler Video, offers stations an alternative to buying equipment outright and does not oblige the broadcaster to a lease-to-buy scenario.
In addition to equipment leasing and consultative services, Telecorps Leasing will also offer repair services on leased equipment, reducing the burden on in-house engineering resources. The new service leverages Wexler's expertise in recommending products and systems that will serve a station in the most cost-effective way.
Last month, Telecorps Communications acquired Wexler Video, which is based in Burbank, CA. Wexler has provided equipment rentals and workflow expertise to numerous live sports and entertainment productions as well as studio installations for more than 25 years. The company designed and supplied a variety of preconfigured systems for video villages, hidden cameras and multipath wireless sound gathering. The company also offers system integration products and services to enable communications and collaboration within a station, from content creation to the handling and storing of digital media.
Telecorps Leasing powered by Wexler Video will be managed by a group of TV executives with extensive track records in station management. The group of executives includes Rob McConnell, CEO of Telecorps Communications, as well as Jim Rosenfield, Dave Carfolite, and Tom VanBenchoten.
