Santa Monica, CA-based boutique post house Therapy is using Quantel's iQ to master the upcoming direct-to-DVD release “Art House.”
Directed by Amy Wilkes, “Art House” is designed to teach kids to draw by building on basic shapes to compose more complicated sketches such as dogs, dinosaurs and birds.
Therapy's editor Meg Decker is working with Wilkes, while animator Brad Abelson is preparing special graphics for the program. Decker previously edited Wilkes’ 2006 documentary “Punk Like Me” for Therapy.
The iQ has been at the center of Therapy's online services since the facility opened in November 2005. It is being used to handle all visual effects, compositing, color correction and online finishing for the project. “Art House” was shot in 720P HD using a Panasonic HVX 200 P2 camcorder. The HVX 200 records directly onto solid-state P2 memory cards.
Ramsay explained that the company was relying on the new version 3.6 of iQ's software to manipulate the P2 footage directly in the timeline.
