WFAA-TV grapples with DTV reception questions

Many broadcasters breathed a big sigh of relief with the completion of the DTV transition last month.
But for a group of VHF broadcasters, the consequences of the transition are an ongoing challenge. Some in Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas and elsewhere report that they are continuing to grapple with delivering a digital television signal to over-the-air viewers.
One such broadcaster, WFAA-TV, the Belo-owned ABC affiliate in Dallas, applied to maximize its power and added a circular polarized antenna before leaving its temporary digital Channel 9 assignment for its permanent digital home on Channel 8.
According to WFAA director of technology David Johnson, those steps helped, but there are still some viewers who are having problems. Johnson discusses the DTV transition and its fallout in this podcast.
