GDS develops optically enhanced large TFT display

Jul 27, 2005 4:58 PM, Digital Signage Update e-newsletter

Global Display Solutions (GDS) has filed a patent application for an optically enhanced large TFT display that is readable in full sunlight, offers 1366x768 resolution, and operates 24 hours a day.

The GDS patent application is based on certain aspects of the display's design, such as the panel and monitor cooling system, the mechanical chassis system, the optical improvement system and other related concepts. Using optimal contrast values, the technology overcomes previous temperature and reliability limitations on outdoor displays with similar technology to that used in ATM monitors, but on a larger scale. Robust casing protects the unit from dust and low-pressure water from all directions.
