Belgian cable television broadcaster Kanaal Z, has added an Omneon Spectrum media server to its 24-hour news playout system. The new server and support systems were installed by Brussels-based systems integrator and distributor Video Promotion and operator Videohouse.

The Omneon Spectrum server operates under the control of an SGT automation system and is part of a custom system designed to address the station’s long-term goals. The highly scalable and modular Omneon Spectrum server architecture and comprehensive line of SGT products, which include transmission, traffic and media management, provide Kanaal Z with enormous playout flexibility.

Also, the ease with which the Spectrum system integrates and works with the facility's Avid nonlinear editing systems allows for rapid file transfers and an efficient news workflow.
