Cal State University to provide production, post-production services in new studios

California State University has completed the design, installation and implementation of two studios and two control rooms at its San Marcos campus. The new installation in the university's Kellogg Library enables the university to enhance courses with hands-on production and post-production in a controlled environment, and it also serves as a resource for other student and faculty projects.
The university contracted systems integrator TV Magic to complete the job. For each of the two studios located on the library's second floor, TV Magic supplied three Hitachi Z400W studio cameras, a Grass Valley Kayak production switcher and Concerto router, a Yamaha DM 1000 audio mixer, a Panasonic AJ-SD93 DVCPRO recorder and AG-DV2500 VCR, AJA Kona boards and Videotek test equipment. The company included built-in connectivity between Studio A and Studio B with devices in the machine room, and also installed five Final Cut Pro edit systems that the school acquired directly from Apple.
