Paul Flook, head of broadcast engineering for ITN, and Adrian Richmond, sales manager of TELEX UK, celebrate the installation of the new ITN Master Control System.
Independent Television News (ITN) is improving its critical communications capabilities at its Gray’s Inn Road headquarters in London.
Stage 1 of the revamping of its headquarters has already begun with the installation of a 176 square ADAM matrix system for ITN’s master control room. The control room provides facilities for six studios, 16 edit suites and graphics and content managers as the hub of ITN operations. As a live news broadcaster, ITN takes feeds from numerous outside broadcasts every day, so an essential part of its intercom requirement was a system to route incoming and outgoing lines at the touch of a button. A new TELEX ARP (Audio Routing Panel) from Telex Communications developed for ITN allows speedy switching with visual confirmation and reverse interrogation of routes throughout the complex.
Stage 2 of the install commences toward the end of 2006 with upgrades to PCR 1 and PCR 2, and plans to upgrade the remaining studios in the future.
