MIRA Mobile TV manages signals on site with QuStream

MIRA Mobile Television has selected Cheetah routing and Integrity signal-processing equipment from QuStream for its new M7HD production truck. It’s the seventh truck in its fleet and the first built on QuStream's technology.

Based in the Pacific Northwest, MIRA Mobile TV is one of the largest mobile facilities providers in the western United States, operating mobile units that range from a 48ft digital straight truck to 53ft HD expandable rigs. For more than 20 years, MIRA Mobile TV has been providing remote TV production services for regional and national sporting events.

MIRA Mobile’s new truck is based on a Cheetah 288XE HD/3G digital video router (288 x 576 matrix) and a Cheetah DRS distributed audio system. With its 3G capability, the Cheetah 288XE provides the central backbone for all SD/HD routing currently and can handle 1080p routing in the future. The M7HD also includes Cheetah DRS distributed audio routing, with 256 AES and 256 analog in and out.

The Cheetah DRS allows audio routing to be distributed throughout the truck in multiple 1RU I/O modules, whereby everything is interconnected via redundant Cat 5 cable. This provides space, weight and power savings and can also be used to link mobile units together using a fiber interconnection.

Completing M7HD’s infrastructure is QuStream's Integrity series of signal processing technology. The 600 Series includes downconverting DA's and the 500 Series provides the truck's up/down/crossconversion with side-column keyers. QuStream QuadraComb NTSC/SDI decoders and 1 x 15 and dual 1 x 3 DAs round out the system.
